I’m stepping away from the sci-fi logs, historical mysteries, and golf for a second because I need to let y’all in on a little secret.

I’m currently writing something completely different.

And when I say different, I mean I am stepping way outside of my usual comfort zone and diving headfirst into a brand-new project: a romance story.

Now, I know what some of y’all might be thinking. “JMalrix? Romance? Where are the classified military bases and alien gods? And you can’t fool us, you already did Secret Chords.”

Trust me, I know. But here’s the truth: this story is deeply, profoundly personal to me. It’s a project that touches on parts of life, connection, and vulnerability that I haven’t really put into my published fiction before. It’s stretching my ideas of what I consider to be the “JMalrix brand,” while still holding onto the heart, authenticity, and soul that make my writing what it is.

As an author, it’s easy to stay inside the exact box people expect you to build. But good stories come from taking risks, feeling uncomfortable, and writing things that make your heart race a little bit before you hit publish.

I’m not ready to reveal the title or drop the full premise just yet—consider this your official teaser—but I wanted my Goofies to hear it from me first. It’s emotional, it’s raw, it’s personal, and I am pouring a ton of love into every single page.

So keep an eye out. The sci-fi is flowing, Conquistar is moving, and behind the scenes, a whole new emotional era is brewing.

Thank you all for letting me grow, experiment, and share these different sides of myself with you. I can’t wait to introduce you to these characters when the time is right.
